This was a guy who as "wesellcameras" dutch auctioned two sets of seven time lapse VCR's on eBay, mine was Item #802559910. I suspect he never had any to sell, not one buyer I saw ever gave him any feedback that one had been received. PayPal shut him down, then his charge card processor, then eBay.I specifically told in writing to not charge my card till he was about to ship. He just charged it right away. After some time I asked him when he was going to ship? He wrote and claimed he had sent my card a refund, but he lied. I asked my credit card to get me a refund from the fraud. They tried once and were "refused", what ever that means. After 5 months of fighting with my bank (Provident Bank) they finally gave me $290 from their fraud protection program.
So that was my introduction with Mr. Maimone. The facts:
When someone lies so boldly to me -- and I get reports of the same from others -- they lose all credibility with me.
- Ebay suspeneded him
- PayPal suspended him.
- He was specifically told to not charge my card until he had the VCR in hand and ready to ship. He immediately charged the card, didn't have the VCR.
- He claims to have issued a credit to my card, but has not been able to show me any receipt. Those charge machines issue a paper receipt for credits just like for charges. Seems like a businessman would hang onto those receipts carefully -- but none has been shown to me, and no credit from him every appeared on my card.
- He no longer responded to any emails sent to him or letters sent to him. I didn't hear from him till months later when he found an article about him on my website.
- He first claimed that it couldn't have been him, he hadn't sold on ebay since 1999. This is a very bold lie for someone who sold me a VCR on 11/19/2002 and went through several more ebay ID's after that.
- He then claimed it must have been some rogue employee at one of his compainies, another bold lie. I sent him a copy of his correspondance to me, and he admitted it was him.
The following are emails sent to Chris
from other people who had problems with transactions with him. He
has passed them on to me. I cannot guarntee the accuracy of any of
them, but you still may see a pattern. (I also have
reason to believe the actual author of one of these is Mr. Maimone
himself.)
Subject: Re: FW: eBay Item Won! NEW 1280 Hour Time Lapse VCR 53 Days NON-STOP (Item #8...I just got off the phone with Visa, and they don't show a charge, so I'll check back in a few days. I may have gotten lucky, because when I told "Angelo" that he already charged my card and that I had an e-mail receipt and demanded a delivery date, he told me that they don't take CCs. He also gave me the 5-7 day story about reversing the charges or having the account credited. So far, so good, but I am still extremely leery of this guy. Will keep you posted on further developments.
"I too was scammed by Christina & Angelo Maimone on EBAY. I have been filing fraud filings at everything and anyone I can possible find. I don't think it will do me much good, but I don't want to give up either. There were five of us on a "dutch auction" that won new cameras, sent our monies and got no camera. Angelo was emailing back to me a couple of times, then stopped his email addresses. Have sent email to his other businesses, buy of course he is ignoring me. I thought I was being smart and checked out the feedback on them, and at the time of my bidding, it was fine..so I guess one just never knows..hopefully something good will come out of all of this mess. christy"
"I have a comment about Angelo Maimone who appears in your list. I too lost about $640 when I won an auction for a camera on EBay last year, paid by cashiers check, and never got the merchandise. You can see a summary of the results of a full search by clicking here.He promised to send a refund after I had the Miami Consumer Protection office contact him for me. Of course I never got that refund.
If you go to this website and put in his name you will find that he has quite a history with the Miami courts.

chris ,
I too am a victim of angelo maimone.I paid for a motorcycle i won on ebay and have yet to even recieve the title.after countless emails promising delivery,refunds,etc..i have yet to resolve this. will keep you posted.thanks for the site.Terry
P.S. the user name angelo was using is eclipsecctv.i forwarded your web site to another person who i know got ripped of by this non-person.
Chris:No words can adequately describe my thanks to you for your web site. Back on June 20, 2003 I won an eBay auction from Angelo Maimone for a camcorder for $255.50. The auction was paid for via Western Union BidPay on that same day.
There were several emails back and forth regarding the shipment and then nothing. When I tried to get BidPay to help their response was essentially a "shrug of the shoulders". Maimone's listed phone number on eBay was a fax machine. The one on record at BidPay had been discontinued. eBay's response was,
contact us again after 30 days have past and for we will try and recover a maximum of $200.00 for you. There is a $25.00 fee for this leaving a potential net of $175.00.I was at my wits end and ready to bite the bullet and file through eBay even though I would suffer a loss. Late this past Monday (8/4/03) I discovered your web site and the information about Angelo Maimone. Armed with this knowledge I emailed Angelo once again. After a furious flurry of email back and forth till 2:00AM Tuesday morning Angelo saw the light. I'll admit a threat to file fraud charges if reimbursement was not received by 8/7/03 helped. Angelo shipped a postal money via UPS next day service and it was received at noon on 8/6/03. The money order not only included the $255.50 for the camcorder but also the $10.75 Western Union charged me for the original money order.
Lessons learned - 1. NEVER USE BIDPAY! They charge an excessive fee for their service and plead "our hands our tied" when you ask for help. 2. If
it is an eBay or any other internet auction purchase and the seller is not established or highly rated insist on a C.O. D. shipment or use an escrow
service. If the seller is unwilling to agree to this, find another auction - one will come along sooner or later. 3. If anyone reading this has had
involvement with Angelo Maimone be firm and don't back down. Eventually he will realize you are serious and hopefully you will be successful in your
pursuit.Once again Chris I give you my heartfelt thanks.
Ron

I too was deceived by this dark lord of the bid. And you can imagine how cynical I am at finding a resolution; he just won’t turn to the right side of the deal. My father won a camera for me at his auction, I checked it out and he had no bad feedbacks (on this particular name), so I was ready. My dad is doing me a favor by fronting the money for me (I’m a starving student who needs a good camera for a research project). 2 weeks after the check clears, I ask when the product will ship, he tells me he needs more info, check number, date, ETC. I respond with that info, and he disappears. This is a truly evil form of ‘life.’ Now I am out 500 dollars, and have a big mess to try and take care of. His site looked professionally put together, but reading between the lines: you will find SCAM written all over it.Here is the closing auction website that I saved to my PC and uploaded into my geocities space http://www.geocities.com/onlyonecannoli/scam.htm
Look for his writing type and characteristics so that when he changes ebay user ID again it may be possible to identify him. In the mean time my dad and I will be looking into the venues of justice for this swine beast of a man. Please publish this to your site, and thank you for running it.
>Hi Chris. Has Angelo made a lawsuit against you??? Last time I contacted you I
>got a response from the Bastard, telling me he would check what happened, of
>course I did not get an answer and He is again not responding, what do I do???
>
>From DanielHi Daniel,
He had some attorney friend write me a threatening letter, but he was bluffing. He knows how hard it would be and expensive it would be to sue me in another state. If it was easy to sue someone in another state then all of his customers all over the US who were unhappy would sue him. But no one has the $2,000 it would take to sue over a $200 purchase.
I got tired of hearing from him, so the pages were moved to another domain and another server. I don't own them, and if he tracks down who does and threatens her then they I suppose will move again.
BTW, he did tell me some excuse about your purchase being stuck in customs. Might explain the delay -- but why hadn't he told you this? Why was he not answering your email?
All you can do are the things listed at the web site. Have you tried the phone numbers? He was very annoyed at the phone numbers at the site, I think one is his home phone. I had asked him for an email address and phone number I could list that customers with problems could contact him, offered to remove all the others on the page. He refused!
Good luck,
Chris
Subject: The Man we all hate, MiamoneHi Brent,
I bought I camcorder through Ebay Buy it Now for $189.00 on August 3rd. I was hoping for Fast shipping but little did I know I was getting into a Web
of lies. A week and a Half after I bought the Item through Ebay, used Bid Pay (Never Again), and Recieved a Message about Miamone from an Ebay member
I began to check up on him. Bidpay Said that the check was Cashed on the 13th. So I Emailed Mr. Miamone to see when he thought the Item would
Arrive. All of his Emails Began bouncing back. At this point I got that Bad Feeling. So since he was a Square Deal Member i contacted Square Deal
and Went into mediation with him once he responded. I was Accused of Leaving False Feedback before he recieved the money which I Admitt I left
false feedback but that was after the Bouncing Emails and I had no way to contact him. He accused Bid Pay of saying it was cashed Reguardless of if
he had cashed it or not. Basicly he quickly tried to make me look as though I was a 5 year old who wanted Candy and would lie to get it. Long story
short last Square Deal mediation contact i heard from him he said he could not have Deposited the money order Before then because he just got it
deposited last week. I told him the answer is simple then Send me my item I've agreed to have the feedback removed and we will go about our ways. I
never did hear back from him on that response. Squardeal says if they don't hear from him soon the Case will be closed. Which means I am left High and
Dry once Again by Mr. Miamone. So the Question is where to go from here.
Ideas?
Brent
All the suggestions I have are listed on my web page -- have you done all of them? What was the auction number, his ebay ID, and what was his email?
